I have got the following

Canon 7d, eos 1v hs (film)
70-200 2.8 ii
24-70 2.8 ii
10-22
50mm 1.8
80mm
17-55 2.8
1.4 x converter iii

I rarely use the 17-55, 70-200, 10-22, 1.4

One option is to sell those and get a 5d iii and possibly a 135 f2.

However I also have a hankering for a Hasselblad mf film camera.

I am just putting this up to see if anyone has any thoughts to help me make my decision. I am not looking to spend any/much money, just swap/px.
 
What is it about a Hasselblad that you particularly want? They are wonderful cameras, but very different to the kind of gear you have at the moment.

Selling the 17-55mm should get you a decent 500C/M, A12 back and 80mm Planar though.
 
Remember the loss of effective focal length by going FF with the 5D3. You may find that you will be looking towards longer focal lengths to achieve the same as your 7D
 
Get rid of film and 7D + APSC glass and 50/1.8 and get something like 5DIII, 1DIV, 1DIII, 1DX, 1DsII or so depending on budget. All will be nice upgrade. Film is expensive to shoot and nowhere near as good as digital even if it is a big oversimplification

I love the quality of portraits they produce. Was thinking something a bit more modern with a 150mm lens and forgoing the 5d iii.

It is actually a 50 1.4. I got that wrong in my op. but I possibly would get rid of that. Don't think I would want to go without the film camera though.

You'd have a well recommended set up then really. Not something I'd personally go for but something that a lot would recommend :) All your lenses would still fit the 35mm body too I would imagine.

I found 50mm & 85mm too close so I sold my 85/1.8 & I did pick up a 135L

Yes I am conscious of that I am thinking that the 50mm would be surplus to requirements and I could get a 135 f2.

I would end up with 24-70, 85 1.8, 135 f2

I don't think I would be left with enough to get the 5diii I think I would have to sell the 70-200 and 1.4 extender to have enough without spending extra.

I honestly don't it is easy to justify 135mm L over 70-200mm II. No IS and no weather sealing are already big shortcomings there, and to be fair 200mm f/2.8 can look just as good if not better than 135mm f/2. Plus it looks really good, unlike the 135mm being small and black.

I rarely use the 70-200 at the moment though. Admittedly it might be more useful on the 5d but what would you do in my situation? I don't have spare funds that can be devoted to photography at the moment. So I can't really have the 70-200 and the 5diii.
 
Not sure how you can mention Hasselblad in the same sentence as that other gear :thinking:

But of you really hanker after one, the only cure is to get one. Then the feeling will quickly pass and you can sell it on and do as Daugirdas says.
 
Right, thanks for your views. It has helped me decide. I have decided to try and forget about Hasselblads as I think it is probably not the most sensible option. I have put various items up for sale in the classifieds and am looking to get a 5d iii and keep the 70-200

Thanks for this. I kept the 70-200 and it is great with the 5d iii. Glad you persuaded me to keep it.
