Hi
new today i would to know what you think i have a Olympus 8080
with other add on lenses i find it OK but do i need to upgrade at all
i like to take most kinds of pictures but mostly on auto at the moment
and would like to get more into proper photography

I personally wouldn't spend out money on new equipment, until you are comfortable with the true nature of a camera.
If you can learn to control aperture, ISO and shutter speed to produce the image you want, with the camera you have, do that.

Then if you are able to do this and enjoy it, splash out to your hearts content!

Do you know anyone local who has a DSLR or Bridge (or two people?)?

Mainly because it might be worth going to wherever you enjoy taking pics, and borrowing their cameras. Shoot Auto or look to using Aperture control and see whether you like it.

Might be worth checking into a photography course (college may be?) they may have cameras to use (usually not but worth asking) as you a) get a bit of training and themes to shoot too and b) might be able to use other cameras.


If you don't have much of a budget, look into second hand older models and kit lenses. Just to see how you get on. Then its much of a hands on try as many bodies as you can to find which feels right, then how much it is. If its big new it'll probably cost a bit, but at least you could buy a lower model in the same brand and build up lenses you like.

Mainly its on you - if the camera you have doesn't do what you need and you can afford better, upgrade... If it doesn't work out, you can sell on.
