Ergorest & Bushhawk in the UK?

Caveat - this is not a "want to buy from TP" post. If I'm breaking the rules by posting then I'll happily take it down.

So, like a fool I sold my Ergorest and now I want another one. They don't seem to be made any more though, and I can't find one. Does anyone know where I might have some luck? I've tried Warehouse Express and 7dayshop. It's especially annoying as I only paid a tenner for the last one from a boot fair, and that was with a Manfrotto head as well.

On a similar note, I've been very kindly given a Bushhawk shoulder stock thingy, and I need a release cord for my D90. With the postage it's $85 from the states! Are they available anywhere this side of the pond? I'm quite tempted to get the components from Maplins and try and make one myself. Or is it more complicated than it looks?

I made my own bushhawk release cable from a cheap 7dayshop cable release. Theres only three wires to solder. There should be a pic on there web site for a diy cable.
 
That's good to know, ta. Can you remember if you needed a particular jack for the Bushhawk end of it? This sort of thing, or something different? http://www.maplin.co.uk/right-angled-3.5mm-mono-plug-1147

I've got the end plug & lead from an old remote release, so all I need is the connector for the Bushhawk really. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks Andy. But where did you see the 7.50? It looks like 30 Euros on the page you linked to. That's probably my best option though - me and electrickery don't mix well and I'm a bit worried that I'll fry my camera if I bodge it. ;)

I may have one kicking around somewhere from when I had my Bushhawk. Need to check also if the D300 and D90 are the same connections.

Thanks Kev, but I don't think they are the same. Doesn't the D300 use a ten-pin connector?

Thanks for the offer Kev. It was never going to be that easy though. ;) What did you think of the Bushhawk, was it useful?
 
I just couldn't get on with it. We fell out big style when It failed to shoot, up Cadwest as I was panning a Harrier. Missed a cracking shot. :(
It was almost thrown over the edge!
I also found it a bit uncomfortable trying to look through the viewfinder.
Having said that, lots of other people love them. :) Just not for me.

Thanks for that Kev. I'm a bit dubious about it myself just from playing with it indoors (and humming the Star Wars theme tune). But as I got it for nowt I'll pony up for a cable and give it a try. I was hoping it would help with a 180mm Tamron macro for fast-moving lizards and such.
