err 01

Hi,

i have a 5dmk2 and a 24 105l.

I have just started getting an err 01 message. Not sure if the lens was dropped or whacked in any way but the message reads 'clean contacts between camera and lens' I have cleaned them and still the same message. Also, have tried the lens on my 40d and get the same message.

i also have a 70 - 300 which has started 'jumping' up and down when trying to focus. Again, it does this on both 5d and 40d.

any ideas or similar problems?

Error 01 is implying that the lens isn't responding to the body's requests. As it's occurring with two bodies, it suggests that you have an unhappy lens.

If the 5D works with other lenses then it is surely the 24-105 that is to blame :shrug:
