There seems to be a problem with my newly unboxed Canon 600D, it refuses to click pictures and is displaying err 40 continuously, can someone help me with this??

i just found this its worth a try.

50,70,80 Shooting is not possible due to an error. Turn the camera off and on again. -Turn the power switch to < ON > to turn on the power again.
-Remove and re-install the battery.
-Use a Canon lens.
-If the instructions above do not solve the problem, please contact your nearest Canon Service Center.

I presume your battery is a Canon one and fully charged ?
If it's new and doesn't clear / repeats itself, I'd be returning for an exchange...
