Error 70 on 5D11?

Hi,
Not had this before...but if I am doing a shoot the first shot after a break comes up with error 70, turn off and on. If I turn off and back on the camera works fine until I stop shooting for a minute or two and the error reoccurs. I also see that even with the error message I see the image taken on the back screen for a fraction of a second before the error message comes up. However the image is not on the CF card.
Thoughts, ideas and solutions welcomed!
 
Looks as though it could be a CF card issue - Google "5D mkii error 70" and you get a few links on this. One states:

  • Err 70: Image malfunction
    Something related to the data being captured and/or written to the memory card is detected as being problematic in some way… this may not be a simple memory card error, although of course that can’t be ruled out.

Thanks for the link. Yes, I have tried all the battery in and out stuff but to no avail!

Have you tried another CF card ?

If the error is with the "CF Card side" of things, this would eliminate the actual card as the problem - i.e. the camera has a problem writing to that card, rather than the camera has a problem writing to a card... Hope this makes sense and is of help and you sort the problem out.
 
Another thing to check - have you looked in the CF slot - are all the pins there and none bent - double check no pins in the CF card when you take it out.
 
Hi Guys,
Tried several different cards and still comes up with error message, I can't see anything amiss in the CF slot but if there was its a Canon job anyway....

Did you manage to get this sorted out ?
 
Hi,
No, its going to have to go in to Canon. Apparently minimum labour charge at Colchester is about £140 plus vat....I have researched and tried everything! Its really odd that after showing the err 70 you can switch off and on and it works fine until you take a break!

Have you phoned Canon @ Elstree to see if they can offer any help / advice / something to try ?

Might be worth a phone call...nothing really lost

Hope you manage to get it sorted

Cheers, will give it a try! Just trying a new set of batteries....

What you need to do is remove the card and battery then go one the net and buy a nikon. Then you wont have these issues :)
