Once again they look way better on Flickr but look rather flat, soft and bland on here.
 
look like flickr is not the best option, not sure what I can do about the way they display images

Tell the Mods. I think Frac has reported it a few times but dunno if anything has been/can be done.
 
surely it's just the sizing?
the images posted here are the original (1040x739 for example) but when you click into flickr, the default is resized to 1024 longest edge .... i thought this had been discussed before

I though the image size for this forum was 1040 pixels along the longest edge- are you saying I should change the size prior to uploading to flickr, If so what would you suggest, 1024 perhaps?

I'll upload a smaller image to here see if that alters sharpness

I thought the longest edge was supposed to be 1024, but either way, what I am saying is even viewing the 2 sizes in flicker itself, you can see a difference
