My friend asked me if I would be photographer at her leavers prom in the summer, im obviously happy to do it but I need to sort out the technical side of it, whether I can ACTUALLY do it, because they want to be able to order and pay for the photos they want online, for me to then print and mount them and get them posted off to everyone.

The first thing I have no clue how to do, is the ordering and paying online deal. Does anyone have any help? Im such a ditz when it comes to this I genuinly dont have the first clue about it. :bonk:

I know websites where you can batch print for really low prices and theres stores and online companies that sell mounts pretty cheap in bulk.

Also, just thinking about the actual photos too, they want portraits as they come in the door, and im just worried about what sort of set up would normally be used at a prom, like I obviously dont have any lighting equipment to use and usually I think it would be set up with that.

I need to get back to them atleast within a week otherwise they obviously need to book someone else.

Thanks to anyone who has info, advice, tips and general facts that I need! Muchly appreciated:thumbs:

I do Military functions, quite similar.
I set up with my lights in the foyer, have a sheet with name/ address details and frame no.
take the shot(s), either chimp it or have a laptop and shoot tethered they pick one.

we run an honour system, they sign & it goes on their bill, however they always pay!
A smugmug pro acct would allow them to buy online, or photobox for UK

Dont leave too early, group shots can be a right money maker (15 friends, tenner a shot, all adds up!)

studio Lights will be a massive help, or you could use speedlights

I was going to say, set up a set up a studio in the foyer.

Probably the best way to sort out the paying side of things is to lodge all the full size worked images with a local printer, let them handle the printing and billing side of things for you. Then all you need to do is give the very small images (watermarked) to whoever needs to see it witha link to the printers.

single shots or group photos, check the venue out before you agree to anything, to see where you can set up.

Then look at what kit you will need.
