hello all,

right went out the weekend and took a few pictures of a running race
right picture this a slope going down into a water / mud pit
bright sky over the top of the bank
so some photo's good, some very dark / silhouette
just from moving the camera up appox 2cm
had it set on shutter

would setting this to full manual fix this??

many thanks

That could be why, when the environment that you are taking pictures in is quite dark/overcast then you need to either use a higher ISO or use flash, using a low ISO in these conditions will result in slow shutter speeds / underexposed pictures.

Are youse using the D100 as it says on your profile?

yeah, the camera is metering sometimes for the foreground (good shots) and sometimes for the sky (silouettes) for this kind thing I like manual as it stops the camera getting confused when I shoot rugby

if the light is constant this method rocks (just check the lcd fairly frequently), in changing light you have to choose which to use

yes i'm using a d100

thanks david - for the info
i will try out manual next time
