There was one of these on the Nikon stand at the Photography Show this year.

Last year my company had the only Nikon 800mm and the only Canon 800mm at the show. This year they both trumped us: Nikon had this and Canon had an awesome 1200mm f/5.6.

I reckon £15k is something of a bargain for this. Last time I saw one for sale, it went for €66k.

I've got a 1000mm f11 you can have at 1/2 the price. :)

A bit more info. Nikon made nearly 400 of these lenses. Judging from the serial number, this is one of the first generation models, before Nikon introduced multi coating. Maybe that's why it's so cheap.

Ive actually been lucky enough to use one of these many moons ago.

Scottish Wildlife Trust were donated one in New Lanark and it was used for photographing Peregrines at their watch site. It was incredibly heavy (60lbs) and didn't have a proper support system. Unfortunately someone dropped it and damaged the mount. No idea what happened to it in the end.
