Those who've noticed, I recently bought a Sigma 30mm f1.4 to go with my Nifty Fifty.
However, after a weekend of around 100 shots (inside and outside), it is just far too variable for my liking in terms of sharpness. A very small number of shots have come out like they could cut glass, whereas others are just mush.
This is shooting silly things like some balls made out of twigs on my dining room table, with an AF-assist lamp from the external flash, propped on my dining room table (so stable), as well as my kids/cats. Also, I note that my brother's Sigma 50mm f1.4 is MUCH sharper with around a 90% hit rate on the same camera (essentially, it seems that it's not all technique).
Having bought it from Jacobs last Thursday, can I exchange it for another copy? Or even the Canon 28mm f1.8? Never having had to do this before, I'm a bit stumped... what are your experiences?
I don't want to annoy the guys in my local store, but considering I've paid £300 more than for my Nifty and got worse results...
