Yes
It's four days (and counting) until I am in a position to place an order for my next lens. Don't know how long the postage will take once it's ordered, but with any luck it could be here by next weekend.

Well since you already have a 24-70, I am guessing it's a 70-200?? :)

Since you already have a very capable full frame camera I guess you've treat yourself to the 70-200 f2.8 IS version??

You know your camera deserves it :)

levihaynes takes the biscuit.

Yes indeedy. Having lusted after a 70-200 2.8 IS for almost as long as I have owned a DSLR, things have finally come together that will allow me to order one tomorrow.

I always thought that this would be my first L lens, but having recently bought a 5DII I needed a good walkaround lens, so ended up buying a 24-70 to go with it.

However, I know that the 70-200 is going to get just as much use so have no problem in adding it to my (still limited) selection of lenses.

Well here we are - now the countdown really begins. Payment has been made and the order placed, all I can do now is sit back and wait for Royal Mail to do it's job.

I just know that the next few days are going to feel interminable.

congrats... hope you manage to keep busy while you wait... i know i would be as giddy as a child on load of E numbers

Mine was a purchase just before christmas and it's excellent. It's really crisp and shooting at f2.8 means I can isolate subjects.

And you - there's nothing wrong with Canon

Oh, and I'm definitely going to need a bigger camera bag. It was getting tight with the 5D and 24-70 in there, so there's going to be no chance of getting the 70-200 in there as well.

Byker, what bag is that?

Lowepro AW computrekker. I passed on my mini trekker to my son with his 400D and my 70-200 F4

I've also a Tamrac Expedition 5 which I bought new from here (and never used). I thought it might be lighter than the lowepro but it's the weight of the kit. I've got used to where everthing is in the Lowepro

Both take Canon 5d with 24-105 fitted, 70-200 f2.8, 100-400, 10-22, 50mm f1.4 (under the blower) 2x convertor, 580 flash gun.

The computrekker adds a bit of weight fo rthe extra laptop pocket at the back, but it's handy when I want to take the laptop, or even for keeping papers etc flat in.

Thanks very much for that. The kit I end up with will be similar with the exception of the 24-70 instead of the 24-105, so it's good to know there are bags out there that can take it all.

Well hooray and zippedy-doo-dah, my lens has arrived. I'm a bit knackered as I have just finished a night shift and will be going to bed shortly, but I had to have a quick play to make sure all was well.

This is the beastie straight out of the packaging.

And this is the first picture I've taken with it (sorry, no ducks to hand ;) )

Congratulations Scarecrow. You'll love it. Have fun. I was as excited as you when I got mine.

Congrats, can't wait to get one ordered in a month or so :)

Where did you order yours from ?

Nice cat but out of interest where did you focus? His nose IS NOT in focus and I'd have expected it to be where the camera/lens focussed.

Kerso. You can find him on here.

I was always under the impression that you should always focus on the eyes. The nose is out of focus due to the shallow DoF from shooting at f/2.8.

Nice one, congrats!!! I have the 5dII and 24-70 but unfortunattely only the non IS 70-200 2.8, still a cracking lens though.
