EXIF data?

Yes
Well, I'm fairly new to all this and as I'm trying to decide on a suitable lens I've been trying to look at the EXIF data on my photos to see which range would be more beneficial. However, thing is, I can't find an easy to view it on all my photos and be able to cycle through them relatively easily.

Any help is much appreciated!

Cheers,
Nick

depends if I know i use my 80-200 all the time and I look at my exif and 90% of the shots are at 135mm I might consider a 135 f2.8 soft focus or 135 f2L or whatever

The main reason is that I use such a wide range generally, that I want to find out which sort of area I'm using the most so that I can prioritise getting a lens to fit such description.

Any ideas how I'd go about checking out the data?

Surely you should know this from just general use, e.g 200mm is not enough

Mostly wrong.

If you are finding the limits of your lens either length or wide then yes, you probably have a good idea. But what if you are looking to see how often you go over a certain length, or wider than a certain length?

I did exactly the same thing when I went from a 100-400L to my 120-300. I found I rarely went much above 300 so would not miss the reach - but only be extended image exif analysis.

Yep, exactly the thing I'm looking to do!

Going back to the original question, a quick google for "exif data" turned up several pages of software that will extract exif data from pictures and allow you to save it as CSV files or text files that you could import into a spreadsheet and analyse to your hearts content.

Am sure there is a facility within Lightroom to allow you to do this? Can't remember where though as I haven't used it.

Do you run Photoshop either CS or elements?

If so why not try out TP's own EXIF border software, it will work on a whole batch too.

Check my sig (It's called Script Writer!)
