Expans on heavy duty backdrop stand?

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the expans from the auto pole system on a heavy duty backdrop stand?

If I have one more accident with a paper roll I might have a nervous breakdown lol!!

I would use my auto polls however the beams in the barn I use are too high for mine :-/
