f is the value of how much light is entering the lens, but is it in relation to the focal length?
Why do some lenses stay constant and others change over their length?
Is 18mm f/4 going to let in the same amount of light as a lens at 300mm f/4?
If I take a photo at 300mm f/5.6 and I take a photo at 500mm f/5.6, will the light levels be the same?
Is it just the focal length that effects the f value or do other factors enter in? If I have a 18-55mm lens at 55mm at f/5.6 and a 55-300mm lens at 55mm f/5.6, will the light levels be the same?
Thanks in advance
