Extenders ?

[BigRuss]

This is the 'basics' section right ?

I've read a few threads about extenders being used, I'm thinking can I get an extender for my 55-250IS on a 500d body ? , i think i've read extenders won't work on an ef-s lens is this right ? or is it the body that stops the extenders working ?

Help ! totally in the dark on this one

Cheers

None of the EF-S are compatible with extenders, and a fair proportion of EF lenses aren't either.

The Canon website lists which ones they can be used on.

And even if it did fit, it wouldn't be very good with that lens. Plus you'd lose AF as the lowest f/number would rise above f/5.6.

Extenders only work well with longer, very high quality, low f/number lenses.

Basically, they are not a cheap fix.
