External storage options - multiple drive enclosure?

I currently have two 750Gb external drives (one backing up the other) for photo storage. Thanks to my liking of editing 16-bit images these are now full :thumbsdown:

I need some more storage and noticed Flashman's link to some Toshiba drives - while the price is right I'm struggling for space and have run out of power sockets.

I found this 4 drive mini storage tower which looks like a tidy solution (could work towards filling it up with 1tb drives).. does anyone have any experience of this product or others like it?

Any other ideas as to how I might get more storage without multiple single external drives or DVDs etc?

Lots of vendors but start with buffalo linkstation or linksys nslu2 or netgear or quantum...
 
Just received an e-shot from SVP for this. The price drops to £19.99 from noon Wednesday for 24 hours or until stocks last.

The users' reviews seem pretty good.

I saw that ... very good price and comes with good reviews. Just what I am looking for as my monthly off line backup that can be kept off site. (I also run a daily automatic backup to a second internal drive).
 
Thanks for the suggestions and links - the idea of networked storage appeals (already have a wireless setup).

I like the idea from a theft point of view too - suppose you could stick a server in the loft or similar, which would then be pretty safe from the pikies should they get to the other gear.

What sort of transfer speeds could I expect with a wireless network? Fast enough to work off or more suited as a backup only system?

I'll have to do a bit of research methinks as this is something I have no experience of. Suppose if going for a networked setup I could even use an old machine as a server..?

Wireless may be a bit slow for largish files, but fine for backups.

If you put the server in the loft, make sure you check it every now and again for dust and other things in the cooling vents
 
Thanks Chappers - would perhaps be better in a cupboard then. Leaning towards using my two externals as primaries and backing up to a server now..

.. which leads me nicely into Jay's post - thanks for the link; wasn't even aware such a thing existed. Looks perfect, if a little pricey. Will definitely be looking into this further.
