Extra money?

Hi guys,

Do some of you do things on the side to earn extra bits of cash?

I'm a student at the moment, and work is a bit quiet at the minute, so I am at home a lot and I'm often finding myself becoming bored.

I've tried to get an extra job, handed out over 50 cv's and nothing has come back, so I am looking at something that I can do as a little side earner?

What do you guys do?

Cleaning. Try and get an application for the domestic bank at your local hospitals. You can do practically as many hours as you like and its alright pay :)

ah right, I was thinking of putting around the degree

I work admin for a mystery shopping company and being an agent is a bit of money here and there generally attached to something interesting ish

are you looking for a 9-5 or a here and there or something in between

I was actually thinking something for myself, ie something I could do from home?

good shout, I do holiday cottages on Saturdays I haven't got any photography work in, I also clean windows sometimes and have a 9-5 and am building up a photography firm

You can earn some good pocket money with matched betting and/or casino bonus shagging (although I think the latter has been clamped down on now).

Can't be arsed with it anymore but at uni when you've got time on your hands...

I do matched betting on and off: it's paid for a few holidays, cleared my overdraft - but, it's certainly not the road to riches, and you will need to be prepared to make the odd mistake or two.

Try ironing - I'm thinking about this since I live next to campus, and potentially, could be good for academics etc to drop off / collect on way to / from work - though having a think about possible prices etc at the moment.

Bonus shagging is where you take advantage of introductory offers from online casinos such as "bet £500, and get £50 free".

So you deposit £50, and start playing blackjack, with small bets. Blackjack is a 50/50 game, so over the course of several hundred bets, statistics says you have made £500 worth of bets, and still have £50 left. You then claim your £50, and withdraw £100. £50 profit for a couple of hours of tedium. Did it a few times at uni, but don't bother any more, I think a lot of the casinos got wise and excluded blackjack from the offers.

Matched betting is the same principal, free £XX bet when you bet £XX. So you play zero sum bets by betting both ways on an event using a betting exchange, and claim the bonus money. Need to be organised and methodical but I know several people that have made thousands doing it.

Not exactly a blokey job but what about mystery shopping? Some of the jobs are few and far between, but some crackers come along aswell ... I tend to try and grab all of the local ones, some only earn £10 here and there but some like the bank jobs are £45 for 20 mins work!! (plus another 10 filling in the surveys!) Worth it for me as I can take the kids and do it in my own time!

I'd be very interested to hear opinions on this too, I've looked into it myself!

sign up on the databases for some of the more reputable firms.

If they ask for money up front its a scam (some good places offer paid for certification but thats generally optional)

check the info they give you - are the a real company with companies house ect (all googleable and free to check)

can you talk to someone on the phone?

The mystery shoppers UK forum should have some useful stuff on it for you

atm I'm doing admin for Mystery Shoppers Ltd, but if you want a lot of work sign up to as many different firms as pos ;)
