Just wondering if anyone has used this combo "out in the field"

Been covering local football teams and a cricket club this year and many times players and fans have asked to see the pictures.

Did use a laptop for a while but was heavy and a nuisance to carry etc.

Was reading the Eye Fi website of their Android app to link a camera to a Smartphone or Tablet.

Was wondering if anyone uses or has used this setup? Amazon have the 8Gb pro x2 card at £38 so am tempted to go for it. With my Galaxy phone I could upload direct to Flikr. The pro x2 also transfers RAW files to.

Shot a match today and there was loads of interest in my pictures at half time (and in the bar after).

Any feedback on these cards and android gratefuly received.

Used one in the second card slots for studio shoots to transmit jpegs to my tablet for preview and it works fine. Setting up on the pc was a little fiddly but once all devices were registered against each other I never had a problem.

I heard that the iOS app worked. I am assuming that the Android app works in much the same way. Hopefully someone on here will be using it too.

I use the eyefi card on my 5d3 and it works ok with my Samsung s4.drains the battery on both the camera and phone though so be where .

No doubt it does

I have a compact Samsung DV300F and theSamsung Android apps rip through the batteries on both camera and Tablet.

For the price I may give it a go. I have 6 batteries for my 450D. May need the in car charger for the tablet!

I don't know about your camera, specifically, but I just bought a £1.49 USB OTG (on-the-go) cable to attach my x100 to my Nexus 7. The Gallery app on the Nexus will import the JPGs - if I rooted the Nexus I dare say I could import the RAWs too. I believe other tablets will do USB host mode without rooting.

I have spoken of the same in a previous thread. I have a 32Gb Nexus 7 with an OTG cable too.

If I am "in the field" I do not want to mess about pulling SD cards in and out of my camera when an eyefi card will move pictures to the tablet and with preset % levels will empty the card once files have been copied to the tablet in essence creating a limitless SD card. Not that the nexus will have a fantastic capacity but shooting JPEG only should handle a thousand in a day if I ever got to that number.

I am still mulling the eye fi over.

Have you loaded CR2 thumbnails and Raw Droid ? Both work on my Nexus and S2 phone without rooting as my RAW files copy over without any issues.

Only the x2 Pro version I believe

But hey the proof of the pudding!

I am busy evaluating som Yongnuo RC-622 tranceivers at the mo so will purchase the eye fi when/if my research fills me with confidence.

Off topic but the Yongnuo RC-622 are really worth the money as they do exactly what a pocketwizard does but for fraction of the price

So far they have done everything expected and for the price are brilliant.

My 2 inflential game changers have been my Yongnuo triggers (603 & 622) and the Speedliters Handbook. I think (to pull this back on subject) the eye fi card will close the loop on my speedlite projects I am building up to.

Youngnu are about to release the equivalent of the recently released canon radio triggers(the one that works only for 600EX RT flashes).

There is supossedly a RC-622 LCD Controller due out which will detail the settings on selected canon and Yonmuo guns.
