Looking at the Nikon 70-300mm to potentially replace my 55-200mm

Digitalrev has it at the minute at £75.

Should I go for it? I understand I wont get Nikon warranty, is there anything else that should stop me?

It's not very good, your 55-200 is a much better lens. While you get a bit better reach you are losing sharpness, if you want to upgrade wait until you have the extra money for the 70-300vr.
