Fast CF cards

Hi All,

I have just started to play with my new 7D:D and have notice that the CF card I used today was too slow to handle the RAWs at a high FPS. The 7D takes 3 images and then stops to let the card write them it seems.

What speed card do you need to allow the 7D to run free at its 8FPS I bought it for? Would a 300x card be fast enough? or even a 233x card?

Cheers,
Russ

Sounds weird. Unless you have already filled up the internal buffer it should still shoot at 8fps despite slow memory card.

Ditto.

No matter what card the 7D buffer should shoot 8fps

Have you got the noise reduction turned on in the custome function?

with my 450D when I had it it dramatically slowed down the fps. Try turning it off or to low and see what happens.

I haven't touched anything so it still set as was out the box. I will see if I can find the option and check.

haha I did check that and set it to 8000 to make sure I gave it every chance to hit 8FPS :p

I dont think the noise reduction is on but i'll have to get the manual out make sure I have checked everywhere. There are several differences on the 7D to my 400D to get used to

can imagine, took me a while with the 450 to the 50, hope you get it sorted soon

Hmm, that's not right at all. You haven't got AEB set, have you? It's the only thing I can think of that would give that result.
