Fast wide lens budget compact or dslr

I used to be a keen photographer & I'd like to get back in. My heads been spinning reading up on the options available. Budgets tight, around £300

Ideally I'd like a dslr with a fast prime lens. Wide. No zoom. Something compact & light. I'm also interested in the non dslr options as I'll be travelling with it.

I enjoy shooting natural scenes unobtrusivly & often in poor light. I have a thing for wide angle fast lens. I will also do occasional indoor photography for which i need a wide angle lens.

Thanks for replying Mr perspective - the fuji x100 looks great and fits the bill except for the 35mm (for 35mm format) equivalent focal length which is a bit restrictive for indoor use (on occasion I shoot creativly designed interiors).

Are there any fixed focus fast dslr lens that are also affordable ?
 
Actually it doesn't have to be fixed, it can be a zoom so long as it's fast, f2 minimum. 24 or 22 wide would be good. I like the look of the canon powershot G7x but it's pricey & sluggish.

2nd hand DSLR with a Tamron 15-55 f/2.8?

Thats the best you'll ever get on a budget, but maybe slightly above your £300 budget.

You definitely want a compact at that money , £300 will just about buy you a used body without a lens, I'd say to get the same results as a good compact you'd need to add at least £200

Have you considered a bridge camera

If you did want a DSLR you could go for a good manual focus lens but you'd need a FF body for a 28mm lens to be wide, a 5D classic and a 28mm manual focus might be in budget or close to it
