Fault on Canon G9

I love my old and trusty Canon G9 but it now seems to have a fault which is only visible on darker shots. In the picture below, you should be able to see a thin blue line running vertically down the picture (for the full height of the picture), around 37% of the way across from the left hand side.
Any ideas what the fault might be and/or what I can do about it would be much appreciated.

Any ideas on what to do would be most welcome. Also, although the problem might always be there, it only shows up on 'darker' pictures. i really would like to keep going with this camera rather than ditching it for a new one.

The only thing that I can suggest is asking a repair centre for advice, Canon have a repair shop locator on their website at http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer_Products/Services_Locator/. Click on the "show search filters" button in the top right corner and select "IXUS and PowerShot Cameras" to see repair shops which do repairs for your camera. It may not even need a repair, but getting their opinion will tell you for definite or not.

Thank you very much, I shall give them a call to see if they can shed any light (sic) on the problem.
 
Thank you to s162216. I have now spoken to Canon and they suggest that the camera needs a full service which costs £ 155.00 or so - more than the camera is worth. It would be a shame to consign it to the bin but there is no point using a camera which might or might now have faults on the picture.
Hmmm, very undecided. Any suggestions welcome.
 
Sell it on e-bay as faulty/for spares. You can get a new G16 for £350 or so (if the banner headlines on here are to be believed). That's far more camera than the G9 ever was.
 
Thank you mickledore. I think that that is the correct conclusion. Now to save some pennies!
