Faulty Canon Lens Advice

I have a problem with my Canon 24-85 whereby when zoomed out the extended part of the lens is wobbling,in addition it will now only zoom passed 50mm when the lens is held vertically,although the pictures still seem ok I think it needs repairing.Anybody got an idea what is causing this and what it is likely to cost to repair

Realistically I think it's highly unlikely that someone could diagnose a complex item like a zoom lens without seeing it.

The list of official Canon repair centres is here. If you ring around them, I imagine that some if not all will offer a service to diagnose and quote for repair without you having to commit to the cost.
