Fed up with Internet Explorer

I've finally done it!! I'm sick to death of "Internet Explorer is restarting" etc messages.

Microsoft has come in for a lot of criticism over the years, but, I've long been a fan of their products, Windows, MS Security Essentials, Synctoy, Windows Live Photo Gallery to name a few.

But IMHO their IE browser has NEVER been stable, I've gone to Mozilla Firefox.

Any comments gratefully received.

Haven't used IE since IE6 for personal use. Work uses IE7 but I also have firefox on my work machine so I can see how my work applications render in different browsers.
At home though, its all about FireFox.....I might even try chrome at some point.

Oh, saw this, thought it was apt:

I've never had any problems with Internet Explorer but I have always had an alternative browser installed as default. I first used Netscape and then the paid version of Opera. When the Mozilla suite was launched, I used that and then Firefox back when it was Phoenix / Firebird.

What sort of stability issues have you had? IE seems to render pages fine for me and until recently was the browser I used for any secure browsing: banking, credit card admin and so on.

I used to use Firefox (and still do when I need to use my work email system) but now use Chrome. Rarely have any issues with it - certainly nowhere near what I did with IE.

Can't remember the exact words, but, something like: -

"Restarting tab"

"Internet Explorer is restarting"

EDIT and that oh so frustrating "not responding"

your second point, above, has got me thinking, I do use internet banking, paying credit cards and the like, is Firefox as secure as IE?

Thanks Llama, not got Firefox fully up and running yet might have look at that.

I use IE at work and have at home for ages, although after downloading Safari I like how the browser makes the page fit to the window without resorting to those silly horizontal scroll bars which IE brings up on some sites.

I like this silly little thing so much I've not used IE in a month. Hopefully IE9 will bring this feature to the table as I honestly do like it.

Firefox for me. Used it for years and have never liked "Internet Exploder" (no that's not a typo) FF is so customisable and the choice of ad ons etc is immense. Faster, slicker, more stable. Oh and its a massive thorn in Microsofts side as well and has overtaken it as the No.1 browser a few times over the years. Whats not to like:thumbs:

Another vote for FireFox, or Google Chrome,
Though have found a few things in Chrome that have caused a few probs.. (probably me)

There is also Opera, which I use on my iphone, though not tried on the PC.

Google Chrome here - only use IE for VPN'ing into work.
