Hi everyone, recently joined up and have some questions to ask so thought I may as well get on with it! :D

I work in graphic design so can use quite a few programmes, and guess the main one you guys all use is Photoshop?

A week ago now I bought myself a MacBook Pro and would like to purchase some software for both design and photography, is there anything else you can recommend I get - or is Photoshop the best option for editing pictures?

Where would you suggest the best place to buy Photoshop etc is, Adobe direct? In the future I would like to start my own business/company doing both photography and design (I understand I have a lot to learn first!) so would like to buy it straight up for small business use.. does this cost more?

I am mostly into automotive photography (have seen some amazing shots on here of cars) and am just wondering what the best lenses to purchase would be - for what I like? I currently use just the standard lens on my Canon 500D which is good, but I would like to use something a bit more suited if that makes sense?!

I also am keen to do videoshoots (if thats what you call it!) of cars so I am interested in what kind of tripods you guys could recommend? Currently been using quite an old/standard one (borrowed from my boyfriends next door neighbour) and it's a bit jolty when trying to glide the camera around (due to not really being made for vids!) if you know what I mean, so is there anything you can recommend which would be suited for both still pictures and videos?

Sorry for the essay guys, hope you can help though.

Look forward to hearing the replies!

All the best, Lauren

Hi Lauren. Welcome along. I use DPP that came with my camera. It suits me fine at the moment for some basis white balance correction, cropping, sharpening and RAW conversion. Give it a go. It will be on the CD that came with your camera.
