Help ive been using microsoft synctoy to back up my files to an external hard drive but its stopped working i wondered if anyone knew another free back up software available thank you...Ray:)
 
I use synctoy and never had problems with it. Are you using v2.0? Both v2 and v1.4 use a file to "track" changes, has yours been accidentally deleted or moved.
 
Ok i will explain my problem say i transfer 20 photos from my bird file on comuter to my bird file on the maxtor usb HD for some reason it has started transfering the birds plus 20 duplicate files of Nero media player any idea why please cheers:(

Are the Nero files in the same directory as the bird shots or in a sub directory?
Can you see the Nero files on your hard drive or are they hidden?

I dont know where they are i was toying with the idea of unstalling nero to see if that works:(

Hmm. Seems to me like Nero has created some hidden files in a directory that you back up using synctoy. If the files are from burning a CD/DVD of your shots then uninstalling Nero will probably not help as they would be data rather than system related and not be affected by doing an uninstall. You may be able to overcome this by tweaking the synctoy v2 settings, otherwise you may need to check for hidden files by forcing windows file explorer to show hidden files. This is not the default windows setting. Once you can see the files it would be easier to deal with them.

Donna thank you for your trouble but i think this might get a tad complicated for me :(

It is difficult to explain or help when you cannot get your hands on the computer in question. Best of luck anyway.
