File format for pic and mac

Yes
is fat or fat 32 (I can't remember exactly what it's called )still the best format for an external portable drive used to transfer files between mac and pic ?
When I go on a trip I upload my raw files to an external drive on my MacBook Pro and transfer them to my windows 10 pc when I get home
I've just ordered a new drive I can't remember exactly how I formatted it last time
I also occasionally transfer jpegs from my pc to my MacBook
And also sometimes want to backup video footage from our Sony camcorder onto the external drive and copy on to my pc when I get back home

You need to nowadays use exFAT, it doesn't have the same size limitation that FAT & FAT32 have.

External WD HDDs come with it preloaded.

I wasn't sure I think I used fat 32 last time glad I checked
