file renaming, 001, 002, 003 etc

[davidh6781]

is there a way of automatically renaming lets say 600 image files to have names like 001.jpg, 002.jpg etc

I know i can do this manually however it will take a good time, is there a way of doing at once? any help would be great

Faststone will do it if you have no software otherwise all major photo editing software has this function

Open Bridge

First select the files you wish to rename......

Goto, edit/select all then tools/batch rename

Job done

This is probably no use for your use ...but if you just highlight the lot in a folder and rename the first 00, click ...they will all come out as 00(1).jpg then 00(2).jpg etc. (im in windows XP )

I think the Canon Utility can rename files as well.

I have used this software in the past. It's not free but allows you to batch edit a lot of the file metadata aswell.
