Filling my lens gap

I'm trying to decide what prime will fill the gap between my 35mm f1.8 and 80-200 f2.8 on my D7000. I shoot portraits and babies, but don't know if a 50mm will be too close to the 35? I considered a 60mm macro, but think they all tend to hunt too much in less than perfect light. Thoughts?

The new 40mm macro? Too close to 35 though I guess There isnt a lot between 35-80 really.
Sigma do a 70mm macro I think. The only other thing I can think of is a 50mm f/1.4 or a 1.2 if you can find one.

Not going with the 60mm then Dean? Great lens for static studio stuff but for your game where things move a bit I think you've kind of answered your own question - 50mm AF-S (or equivalent) is probably your best bet

I know, it's a tough one. A 50 seems like the best for af, but 60 or 70 has the ideal focal length.

Yes give the 50mm a try Dean, I love my copy when I do use it on the back up S5 pro.

I had a 50g, Adam, but not since buying the crop body. I'll go for the sigma this time.
