Hi all,

I've got my self a Minolta x300 with a 50mm F1.7 lens, but am a bit of a loss what film to use  I'm 14, so when i got interested in photography, film was gone in our house....

So, any recommendations? At first at least ill be getting it developed by someone else :)

For black and white, I'd use Ilford FP4+ (125 ISO/ASA) and HP5+ (400 ISO/ASA) to begin with. Both are excellent films.

For colour, I'd try Kodak Ektar 100. It comes highly recommended.

Agreed. Ektar 100 is good for landscapes, macro flowers, etc. but if your interest is in colour portraits then something like Fuji Reala would be better as it will give you better skin tones.

For colour and this time of the year 200asa is better.....fuji superia 200 is a great general purpose film. It would be nice to use faster film 400-800asa for winter and summer, but alas grain starts to show and your shots would look less sharp.
For summer, Reala 100asa is a nice film:-

Fuji reala....pretty postcard results with a Konica lens, developed at Tesco.
