Filter Brand

I am on the hunt for a couple of filters to compliment my current kit.

In general what filters are considered good value for money, there seem to be a number of different brands out there, which makes it hard to start.

Is it good to start with B&W and Hoya?

I specifically after a 10stop and a polariser

I have always used either B&W or Nikon filters. Both are quality filters and if you're using good lenses it's worth not degrading them too much with cheap ones, IME.

No idea on a ten stop but Marumi make some of the best cpl's on the market.

I've only ever used HiTech and Lee.

I prefer Lee.

I bought the B&W 10 stopper and a Heliopan CPL, both brass threads.

Heliopan CPL has numbers which help with getting it in the right place!

Very happy with results from both.

I use Lee grads though.
