Filters?

Hey, I'll soon be an owner of a D3100. Looking at the width of filters I may need, and i found out that the 18-55 will need a 52mm. While the 55-300 will need a 58mm filter. However if I went for the 55-200 that also will need a 52mm filter which is slightly swaying me towards that lens instead so I don't have to buy 2 different filters. Or do I? Are there adapters which will make 1 filter fit on both lens?

Onto my other question, im interested in getting a ND filter -so that I can do long exposure times in daylight - any recommendations?

Thanks, Ben.

I buy a seperate UV/protection filter for each of my lenses.
If you need 'effects' filters, you're better off buying the more expensive 'square' filters and a filter holder, along with the appropriate adaptor rings.

You can get step up/stepdown rings so one size filter will fit different lenses. Best toi get a filter to fit the largest diameter lens then a converter ring to adapt it to the smaller one. Another option would be a square filter system (Cokin, Lee or similar) - each lens has an adapter fitted for the filter holder to attach to then you simply slide in the filter(s) you want to use.
