I have been using the Nikon 18-105 on this as a walkabout, but have not really been convinced with the IQ.
I had held off from the 16-85 due to the £400 tag, but in a rare burst of common sense realised that I had paid this much for my Sigma 10-20 which gets far less use....
Trip to Park Cameras resulted in the purchase of said lens at just under the £400 mark. Have a major picture taking event on Sunday so will see how it compares. Certainly seems nicely made, and has the proper metal lens mount. The 16mm wide end will be better for most of what I use the walkabout lens for, if it lives up to expectations and matches the iq of the 70-300vr I will be very pleased.
(This will also be my holiday lens on my D90, the 18-105 is now relegated to the D60 which is kept in my car so I always have a camera to hand.)
