I'd like to find and connect with other photographers in my area and recently moved city and can't really find anything appropriate. i found one 'club' but it consisted of an online forum and not much else going on :(

are there any websites/directories for clubs? I live in Norwich, Norfolk by the way. if anyone can link me up that would be most helpful! i wanna get out and exploring the city with other peopel that ataully know where they are going and where the good spots are

Not much info there - no "Where we meet" or anything like that, what do you get for your £30? Is joining your local club a requirement anymore... are they even valid in the digital age?

ahh that ndps website is the one i found, i couldnt find much info at all about meetups? or even anything about what they do really, or how a photographic club works.

myabe just poor website design, unless I'm being thick?

There are quite a few clubs around the Norwich area - apart from ndps there is a club at Dereham, Wymondham, Bunwell, Bungay/Beccles (never can remember which one!)
There is a programme of meetings on the ndps website - sorry but I am no good at linky things.

nice one - although I would really need it to be in Norwich as I don't have a car :( I'll keep looking on the ndps website, hopefully I'll find something!

There are also a few flickr groups around the Norwich/Norfolk area. Unfortunateley I have been too busy for the past few months to take much of an active part in either club or flickr affairs.

sweet ill have to get on flick and find them -do you have to be a member to go on flick? never been on there

Also some clubs/societies other than dedicated photographic ones have a photography section. I have just joined the "Norfolk and Norwich Naturalists' Society" which has a dedicated photography section, but that may not be your "thing". What sort of photography interests you?

That's something I hadn't thought of... definately worth looking into.

I was looking at camera clubs in my area last night and I didn't much like the sound of any of them. The meetings seemed to be split between guest speakers showing slides (not necessarily a bad thing - but not exactly filling me with excitment either) and competition judging nights. There doesn't seem to be a lot of practical learning / photo taking going on as far as I can see

A club is as good as its membership, and the membership runs the club. Why don't you just go along and see what's what? A few peeps on here have posted that they've done just that, and stayed. Can't be too hard can it?
