Yes
Just got my D600 and on one of my lenses it looks like I will need to fine tune the focus. I have already tried and it seems to help BUT looking at the manual it tells you how to fine tune etc but then says its

Not Recommended

So what's it there for....

You can always set it back to zero.
Not familiar with the micro-adjust in Nikon but surely like Canon it will remember each lens so it can hardly mess up anything else.

'It' can't but user can I guess.

Bizzare...I mean why develop a menu option like that which can't of been easy just to tell people not to use it

They don't say that. They say only use it if you need it.

The problem is, first thing some people do with a new lens is AF test it, test it wrongly and mess everything up, then complain.

It happens on here often enough.

Assuming it is an AF issue and not user error then fine tuning the lens reaps much sharper pictures. Once I AF tuned my D7000 when I had it the results were stunning
