Not sure what they are doing; every release is a whole number. Seems they want to catch up with IE numbering.

Not long since I got FF3, then 4, 5 and now 6.

The Firefox UI has remained the same for the most part as the bulk of the changes for this release are happening behind the scenes. The most noticeable cosmetic change is that the address bar now highlights the domain of the website you're visiting. Under the hood there's added support for the latest version of WebSocket as well as stream-lined performance when it comes to start times and opening large numbers of tabs at once. There's also the addition of a new permissions tool that will allow the end-user better control of which websites are storing what information (cookies, passwords, location, etc.)."

or let others do so, and wait for all the '' FF6 doesn't do..........

Same here :(

But the guys behind it generally have a new version out in a few days so I don't mind!

Generally I don't go for updates for a few weeks but was in a process of tidying up when I saw this and went with it.
 
I've dismissed the update for the time being. Can't help but feel the fire fox guys are rolling these updates out very close together which seems odd, and the odd numbering method is bizarre to say the least.

Just upgraded, one thing I really miss is the status bar at the bottom wished they'd give it us back, I know they've incorporated it into the address bar as a line that runs across, but I liked to be able to mouse over links/images and see the Url that I would be directed to if clicked

my exif readers are still working in 6

That's the idea. They aim to release something like 4 major versions a year. - They want to downplay the version number, and focus on features, rather than version.

It makes for a quicker development cycle, and in a few years others will copy.
 
Think the current Firefox Exif Viewer (Exif Viewer 1.65) works with Firefox 1.5-5.

Can't say I've tried since doing the update to 6.

Saw this on the Firefox site and then thought better of it.

Exif Viewer Quick Fix For Firefox 6

Download: http://www.sofken.com/exif_viewer-1.65-tb+fx_fx5.xpi
Rename File to: exif_viewer-1.65-tb+fx_fx6.xpi
Follow instructions how to edit an xpi file here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Editing_an_add-on_to_change_its_compatibility

Actual required change in the install.rdf file:

Tip:
Editing the file and saving can be done using an Archive Editor, then simply drop the modified file inside Firefox 6.
