Need some quick advice!.

I am going to a firework display here at Blackpool tonight. Just wondering what setting i would need as a base to get some snaps. Will be using a kit lens on no pod either.

Also would it be worth taking a 135-400mm lens for closer pictures, Or would it just be on big blur?.

Thanks
Luke

I did a couple last week (got there about 2mins before the end). I had a Tamron 70-300. Tried a few different things. ISO100 with different shutter speeds for effect.

I know its a bit late now but one good technique I have been told to use was tripod (or resting somewhere it can't be moved), shutter set to bulb, ISO 100, aperture around f/11 (experiment) and then use a black piece of card in front of the lens.

remove the card when you hear the firework go up, wait for several shots and then put card back over lens and close shutter.

Looking forward to trying it :D
