Hi,

I looking for a nudge in the right direction....

I want to fire the 7d remotely by pressing the shutter button on the 5d MKII...

I have in the kit bag...

1 x mini tt1
2 x flex tt5

I am guessing mini tt1 on 5d and 7d connected to the flex tt5 via the CM-N3-ACC which I need to buy...

Would I have to connect the flex tt5 to the hot shoe on the 7d or just connect via the cable?

I cant seem to find any info so thought I would ask TP for advice...

Cheers

Ian.

only have to connect the cable, unless you are also trying to fire some flashes on another pw channel with the remote camera.

there's offbrand cables on ebay for £12 each if you don't fancy paying the mac group tax...

Easy done I think with the right cable. They won't fire in perfect sync though. Remote camera will be fractionally behind the main camera.

yup, there'll always be some delay even just for mirror flip etc, so if you have lights and the remote camera on the same channel receiving, the remote camera won't pick up the flash.

If you want to trigger lights with the second camera, there's a neat channel jumping trick that you can do, but rtm for that, hardly a common use...

Thanks for the advice

I managed to get this going…

I bought a copy lead from Ebay China for £15.00 CM-N3-ACC…

Is it possible to get the 2nd camera to fire an off camera flash via another PW channel, as the would be very cool....

Any ideas ?

Yes, easy. Just put another trigger on it, on another channel as you say.

no, you don't need to do this. Because pocket wizards are transceivers, they have a neat channel hopping trick that saves you from having to connect two pocket wizards to the same camera.

Look in the instruction manual for the particular model that you are using, but basically it works by

pw1 transmits 'fire' signal to pw2, on channel 1

pw2 is connected to the camera, by the 10 pin trigger port, and rx's a signal on channel 1

pw2 then automatically and instantly moves up to channel 2

once the camera has finished autofocussing or actually fires (very very small delay between trigger port and flash exposure time), pw2 transmits 'fire' on channel 2

pw3, connected to the lights, rx's the signal on channel 2, and fires the lights just at the right time to expose for the camera's picture.

pw2 then reverts to channel 1, listening for another 'fire signal'.

All of this is almost instant, of course.

Sorry Dave, yes. I'm mixing up threads in my head here :bonk: Thought the OP was using RF-602s :) Apologies.
