I'd say you need to get in much closer Kirk, preferably with a macro lens. Also, the fence and road in the background are a distraction.

Wow, they're certainly vibrant(y) Shooting in portrait format would help to emphasise their shape(or you can crop for the same effect) and you might want to play about with different apertures to throw the background out of focus.Generally speaking it's also good form to have your subject on one of the lines of thirds-just makes a more pleasing composition.
