First Attempts at Close Up

Hi all,

Thought I'd grit my teeth and put up my first close-ups up for C&C...

I took about 45 shots to get this one and was quite pleased with it. First thing I've learned is that plenty of patience is required (and maybe a little luck).

It's a 50% crop or thereabouts.

BTW - I don't think this would be classed as true Macro as it was taken with a Nikon D80 through a 70-210 at the 210 Micro setting at closest focus distance. I'm not sure what the magnification is for this lens - got it second-hand recently so I don't know much about it yet.

Like this one, good use of DOF, strong colours and a sharp bee all add to the interest in this image for me

Crusher - you could be right about luck. I had another go early this morning and ended up with nothing worth writing home about. I will persevere though.

And how come I'm already thinking about a proper macro lens when I've only just started ? Expensive aren't they......
