Well it's not strictly a paid shoot, more an exchange of services really . . .

My OH has been wanting his car windows tinted for a while now and finally got it done last weekend.
The guy who did it (friend of a friend) is just starting up his business. He's been doing window tinting as a mobile business in his spare time for a while, but he's just rented a unit on an industrial park, packed in his day job and is giving it a go full time.

Long story short, we got talking and in exchange for a very nice discount on the work he did, I've promised to supply some shots of the car for his website. If they go down well, then there's the chance of some paid work to shoot some other customers' cars to get the website off the ground. (Right now he just has some camera phone / P&S type shots on there)

I know it's not really that big a deal, but it's nice to earn (or in this case save) a bit of cash from my hobby.
It's also nice to be asked to produce something for someone. It's put a big smile on my face anyway, so I thought I'd share :D

I my book its as good as being paid if it saves you money you would have forked out.. so good on ya! :)

Nice one. I did something similar for a guy that details cars. Got a cracking discount on a show detail and all I had to do was photograph my own car :D

Thanks all. It really is a nice feeling :)

These have already made it into my 52 this week, so I thought I'd share them here.
These are just a couple of sample shots that I took today to give him a bit of a taster.
If he's happy with the feel of these, I'll be providing the other shots of the car that I promised including a couple of closer shots of the windows.

Now I know that they're not tip-top pro quality . . . but given my level of experience the deal was fair to both parties.

And yes I hate the pixelated number plates too, but that's what he asked for.

That's a really dramatic sky!!! Nice pics :) Rather than pixelating how about colouring in the number plates some dark colour matching the paintwork?

:thumbs:Congratulations on getting the shoot and I hope it will lead to more work for you.

Thanks Suze.

TBH though I don't have any aspirations to this on a pro basis.
It's just nice to think that somebody likes your work - and any little bit of cash that i can make from the hobby is a nice little bonus.

congratulations...

Not quite sure how I'd feel about being asked to shoot people - not my favourite subject matter. It's nice to feel appreciated though.
