Hi I am new to the forum. I had a Panasonic bridge camera. I was thinking of buying a Nikon 5300 with 18 -55 lens and poss Sigma telephoto lens 70 - 300. Wonder if it is worth waiting for a newer model to come.wanted it to have wifi. Want to photograph holidays, nature and family . Thanks
 
I'd also avoid the Sigma 70-300, it isn't very good imo. The tamron or Nikon ones are much better.
 
Thanks Adam will note that. Can't really afford the 5500 can you recommend anything than the d5300. Thanks
 
tbh in photography you will always want more and better so waiting for x to come out or come down in price is a bad strategy - as you'll always be waiting for the next thing. If the D5300 meets your needs and budget just buy it -

I can't make specific model recomendations because i shoot canon , but in principal it may also be worth looking at second hand from dealers such as mpb, camtech, mifsuds etc , or grey import from the more reputable end like Hdew/panamoz in order to make your budget go further
