Would this do me for an event, or in general photo`s when im out and about?
 
It will certainly do a job and it's certainly difficult to fault for the price, personally I'd look to up the budget slightly and get a second hand Sigma EX 530 Super or equivalent.

O nvm lol Just noticed, it`ll be to powerful for my camera.
 
Thought about a Metz 48 AF-1? I got one recently and it rivals my 430EX! They're pretty cheap to get new and even cheaper second hand obviously. I think they retail for ~£175 new and ~£100 used :)
 
Why do you say the flash is to powerful for your camera? Are you talking about the siggy one?
