Hi,

Ok I own a Nikon D5000 and want to look at getting a flash before I start looking at more lenses to get to grips with some portrait and club work. Cant strech to an SB600 atm.....

Doe anyone have any experience or views on Chinese/Non OEM flash units such as :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YN-460-Yongnuo-YN460-Strobist-Nikon-Canon-Flash-/170526148507?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_CameraAccessories_CameraFlashUnits_JN

If it does TTL I thought it or similar might be a starting point, if I can get any half decent results out of it then it will be worth getting somethign more signicicant like an SB800....

Any thoughts or advise welcome..

I've just bought an SB600 and can't believe how much a difference it makes. If you can afford it I would reccomend one. I was looking at the Nissin range before that for about £100.00 on amazon. If not I think Metz are alos a good brand to start with. I only went with the Nikon as I had a bit more cash and thought it would last longer than a cheaper one.
Hope that helps.

I just bought a Nissin from a local dealer and am very very happy with the flah and a cord cost about £110 GBP but have to say now really want some triggers lol and maybe a couple of smaller flash units to play with argh where does this end !!!

I got a Jessops 360AFD from the shop which gave the flash its name. Punches above its weight for about £60 after cashback site Quidco is used and regularly receives recommendations from here.

I spotted some one selling 5 of them on the forum but I seem to have missed out just! lol darn...

OP, If you're really on a budget, then get the MARK TWO version of the flash you mentioned (YN460 II). It has been recommended a few times for the budget photographer.
