I'd appreciate a few tips on how to improve these pictures if you could.

Bearing in mind they were taken 2 days after I bought the camera, and that to be honest i'm a walker who takes photographs rather than a photographer who was on a photo-walk :)

1/ Swirral Edge on Helvellyn

2/ Looking west over Buttermere Fells

3/ Looking Back to Skiddaw and Blencathra

(don's tin hat and hides behind wall of sandbags)

The main probelm is that you have the horizon cutting the frame in half. You ought to employ the "rule of thirds" here. That said, No 2 is absolutely exquisite, No.1 is pretty good and No. 3 needs a touch more contrast. All need a bit of the sky cropped out.
For a first outing these are very good indeed, keep it up!

You mean a bit more like this for the first one ?

And theres a bit more contrast-ey version of no.3 as well...
