First proper effort.

Depth of field could be better. Will try again with tripod and longer shutter speed.

I wouldnt bother retrying it m8.
Its pretty much spot on as it is.
Im curious to what set up you were using?
ie, Camera, lens etc.

As the page loaded I could only see the first line of your post and thought "Christ, that's a bit harsh" :naughty:

I used a Sony A300
Minolta 28-85mm
Macro setting seems to be 28mm
1/13 at f5

Where was your focal point though?

From what I can work out you were focussing on the lowest flower petal?
Is that what you was aiming for?

Might be worth trying to focus on the central point of the flower too?

J4MIEP - I was focussing on the stamens (which appear to be in the same plane as the lower leaf hence the focus attention.

I see your point re focussing on the centre - you mean the bottom of the stamens I guess?

I will try again with smaller aperture and we'll see.

It could also be my poor eyesight. :)
 
Yes I see your point now :)
Also with it being re-sized may of made the focus points harder to work out.

I think once you have all the flower in frame you will have some pretty impressive macro shots there
