I like this, I have a similar shot of my dad...

Your subject looks like an older Daniel Craig From a total novice POV, I might try it again with a flash, (if you didnt already use one), that might brighten the face a little

peppyuk - It is quite good but it looks like he is walking past and you happened to get him in good focus. I would have thought a portrait should have some involment or eye contact.

He is very central in the shot and would look better to one side with some space to look into like bettys example.

I sharpened it as well, as making it smaller will usually soften it too

Cheers for the advice folks, as it happens he wasn't posing for a photo, we were just talking and I took a couple of photos!
