Well, I was dropping off a load of stuff from freecycle at school for my upcoming photography club (see here if interested) and remembered there was a box labelled "photography" in the resources cupboard. On opening I realised there were a couple of lenses I could adapt for my 400D

However, one of them is the same lens I've just bought on eBay :( (A Pentacon 50mm f1.8, though this one is a M42 screw and the one I've ordered is a PB bayonet fit)

The other is a Photax 200mm f4.5 (also M42)

There were a few old film cameras too which I think I might resurrect.

I obviously don't have an adapter for the M42 lenses, and have ordered an AF confirm adapter for the PB fit lens I've just bought, but I couldn't resist having a go with the lenses and just holding them up to the body of my 400D

Tricky to focus (especially with my dodgy eyesight) but I'm quite impressed with the couple of snaps I took.

200mm f22 (for some reason I didn't open it up

The 200mm seems brand new and works perfectly, however I can't get the aperture to stop down on the 50mm and I expect it may be broken. Thankfully I've got the other 50mm one coming soon to play with.

I'll have to order me a M42 to Canon adapter now :D ooh, might see about getting a tele converter for the 200mm too to see how it fairs as a 400mm (100mm more reach than my Tamron 28-300mm lens)

Forgot to add - also found a Leningrad 4 Light meter and it works a treat. I've been testing it alongside my 400D's light metering and it is almost identical in the settings!
