Hi all,
I did some portrait shots yesterday with some friends and family.
It was my very first lot of portraits and was a very basic set up.
It was shot in my living room, with a white muslin backdrop.
I don't have any lights yet so I just used the natural light from the window and my sigma flash (bounced from the ceiling).
I would love some honest C&C and some advice for next time (other than get some lights)

"What no Lights"

Just proves you don't always need an expensive setup to get quality images.

Well done & I hope we'll see more from you...

Thanks very much for the comment halesowenkid.
Glad you like them.(y)

very nice. any chance of you posting a pic of your set-up?

Number one for me, the rest dont quite hit the mark, (limbs cut off etc)

Is that guy trying to look like Gok Wan? ;)

Cheers DD, glad you like.
Thanks for the feedback Betty, will keep it in mind for next time (y)
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks he looks like Gok Wan :LOL:

Sorry Ted, never thought to take a pic of the set up.
The frame was about 8ft tall with a white muslin sheet (7ft wide/11ft long).
Shot all of them free hand (no tripod), with my 350D using the kit 18-55 lens.
Used my Sigma 500 flash on camera and bounced it off a white celieng.

Hope that helps.

OOh - I can see a 'Game' here...

Okay everyone - just "What did MD tell him to do???"

I think that's a pretty good attempt there Slvrbck, stick with it

This morning, I think it was, we had another tog saying... "I have a 14" x 10" room with great window light - what flash gear should I buy?" - derrrrr !!! If you have space & light, don't buy flash gear just work with what you do have - oh, and your flash setting was too high by 1/2 stop or more

DD

you have the eye and talent , look forward to seeing youre progress
yours gwh

 That could be a good game DiddyDave.
Thanks for the advice about the flash....

Cheers for the comments gwh(y)

Just goes to show what you can achieve with a simple set up. I've been put off the studio stuff as I wasn't sure I wanted to invest in the set-up. This may have persuaded me to have a play with the natural light i have available to me.

Oh and no idea what MD advised you to do.. but it worked(y).

What flash have you got fella?

Pictures are smart, think I'd have to go with number 3 being my favourite.

DiddyDave[/B].
Thanks for the advice about the flash....

Cheers for the comments gwh(y)
